Even for me, if I want to make a new oil painting, unless I can find some kind people to donate materials, I need to buy a canvas, paint and other supplies.
It’s not just about the physical supplies, though. If I have to work from 9 to 5 or even more hours per day just to have food on the table and a roof above my head, then I may be too drained to paint.
Wealth doesn’t just buy you things, it buys you time. Can you imagine how much happier people would be if they could devote more time to passions and less to work and obligations?
However, there’s a fine line between being comfortable and being greedy.
If you just want to build that number in your bank account and it’s the only thing that you care about, that’s not really fulfilling.
I always feel that money and wealth should be a means to an end, not the goal itself. That is something that is potentially up for debate, though.
